VR Technology have been around for a number of years. Originally known as Delta P they launched the VR3 mixed gas dive computer, which is now probably the most well known and well used technical dive computer in the world. Following a branch into other products, and the launch of the Ouroborus Rebreather, they became VR Technology, and in 1997 launched the Sentinel rebreather to the sports diving market.
Sentinel Rebreather
In a contrast to traditional rebreather design, the Sentinel rebreather features a single back mounted counterlung. This means you are once again presented with a clear chest for stages, camera’s or just squeezing through tight gaps. Both a diver (with vibrating alarm) and buddy HUD means everyone is aware of the state of your rebreather, an excellent feature when team diving. An independant passive back up display provides an alternative source for monitoring PO2 in the loop, making a full bail out scenario even less likely.
Sentinel Expedition
With the end of 2009 fast approaching, VR Technology announced the launch of the Sentinel Expedition. The Sentinel Expedition is the same core rebreather, but features as standard a fully functioning gaseous CO2 sensor (the only CE approved production rebreather to do so). This gives on constant reading on the amount of CO2 present within the breathing loop, and is a breakthrough in rebreather safety and technology.
